All the young dogs at Wrangler Retrievers undergo the same fundamental program, starting from obedience to swim by. We take only a limited number of dogs to ensure that each dog is not rushed through yard work. This approach allows each dog to learn at its own pace, ensuring that every step is solidified. By focusing on the basics and having fewer dogs, we can be more efficient in our training, providing more repetitions and breaking things down for individual dogs.

During basic training, each dog will regularly be taken to the field to retrieve marks, teaching them concepts and how to handle various factors and suction.

If your dog stays with us beyond the basics, we will advance their skills to make good decisions on both land and water while running marks and blinds.

Toward the end of this period, our hunt test dogs start running more hunt test scenarios and begin to get ready to run their first AKC or UKC/HRC hunt tests.
